From the 1st January 1999 there has been a legal requirement within
the United Kingdom that Infectious materials or substances cannot
be sent through the postal services without adequate protection.
That protection must be provided by packaging that has been specially
designed and manufactured to meet the stringent requirements of
the United Nations (UN).
This requirement
includes materials or substances not only being directly transported
by post within the United Kingdom but also those that are sent
from overseas and then transported within the United Kingdom using
any postal services.
